Background colour for an image

Early in Iconizer's development it was realised that the images produced would look better if presented over a gently coloured background. Iconizer can produce such backgrounds rapidly across the full 1920 by 1200 pixel, 16 million colour HD canvas. The programming routines that make this possible are written in hand coded and optimised assembly language. They produce beautiful circular graduated colour fills. Canvas wash is the fifth item on the main menu.

The image above shows the default state of the canvas wash window. No colours are selected. Clicking on the Canvas wash button will cause the canvas to be cleared to black instantaneously.

Now to set up a red canvas wash. Firstly, note that the red section is ticked. Once this is done the Base and Peak controls for that colour become active. The Base control gives the amount of red at the centre of the canvas. The Peak control gives the amount of red at the perimeter of the canvas. These controls jump in increments of ten, rather than one, if the adjust mouse button is used instead of select. Clicking on the Canvas wash button will instantaneously cause the canvas to be cleared to a darker red at the centre becoming brighter at the edges.

Note that a canvas wash must be applied first and the strange attractor then rendered on top. Look back at the previous page to study again the sample image. It is over a subtle canvas wash.

On the following page it'll be shown how to access twenty-four built in examples. Try rendering one of these over a canvas wash.
