Jamaican Spirit (2004)

Increasingly, I found that my skills as a mathematician where called upon to
create interesting images and develop fully the ideas suggested by seeing
what random bits of algebra looked like to my computer.
Jamaican Spirit is essentially a hyperbola with a sine wave added.
Mathematically this is a simple object but it had never looked this colourful before !
I was being challenged as a computer programmer, as a mathematician, and as an artist.
As 2004 progressed, it occurred to me that all the ingredients were
in place to aspire towards becoming a digital artist.
 

The full digital rights to Jamaican Spirit have been sold.
